Slice, Slice, Baby!

Give your neighbors something fun to look forward to at the end of the week with a free Take and Bake Pizza event. We’ve taken a large part of the guesswork out for you, and below you will find some free downloadable decorations, recipe cards, shopping list, supplies to purchase, ideas, and more.

Table Layout Idea

Here’s just an idea of how you can layout your table to help make the pizza building process an organized, enjoyable experience! It’s a great idea to have a volunteer or two at the end, helping wrap and box. It’s a great way to put a bow on the event, and you’re able to get some personal interaction with each person who comes through the line.

Free Graphic Printables

  • Cut-out Pizza Pendant Bunting (4x6) – Cut these pizza pendants out and fold the tops over baker’s twine or string, staple twice, and hang for bunting decoration on a table edge or wall. Print out as many as you need for the length of your table/wall.
  • Topping Labels (half page) – Frame signs and set up on spread, or use photo clips.
  • Recipe Cards (half page) – Hang these above your serving table on a wire/string with clothespins, or make multiples and laminate them for people to take with them through the line and reuse like a menu at a restaurant. Recipes include BBQ Chicken, Chicken Carbonara, Mediterranean, Hawaiian Tasty, Buffalo Chicken and Margherita.
  • Baking Cards (6-up) Directions|Blank – Print out pre-made baking cards and cut out. These will be placed on top of pre-made pizza before plastic wrapping and placing in box. The baking cards with directions included are for pre-made regular dough. If you make with pita, gluten free or another type of crust, the blanks cards are available for you to type out your own pizza baking directions. We’d definitely encourage a test run before printing out your baking cards, as everyone has different ovens and crusts.
  • Pizza Box Stickers – Print these stickers out on 2 inch circle Avery labels. These are editable so you can include your names and cares team contact information. Stick these on top of every pizza box so it goes home with them!
  • Blank Signs (full page) – If you find that you need to add some more info or signage to help your residents fully understand the process, or need signage just directing to where the event is, you can use these pizza themed signs! If you'd like to reuse the sign... print it, frame it, and use a dry erase marker on the frame!

Shopping List

  • Dough (You can get boxes of premade 8” frozen dough at places like Costco or Sam’s Club) – regular and gluten free.
  • Sauces:
    • Marinara
    • Alfredo
    • Butter garlic
    • Ranch
    • BBQ
    • Buffalo
    • Sriracha
    • Olive oil
  • Toppings:
    • Meats: pepperoni, ham, Italian sausage, grilled chicken, chicken sausage, Canadian bacon, beef, meatballs, bacon crumbles
    • Cheese: mozzarella, shredded parmesan, ricotta, vegan cheese, cheddar
    • Veggies/fruits: grape/roma tomatoes, mushrooms, green/black olives, artichoke hearts, onions, green/red peppers, spinach, banana peppers, jalapenos, pineapple, corn, sundried tomatoes, caramelized onions
    • Fresh finishes: minced garlic, salt, basil, oregano, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper, grated parmesan, chopped cilantro, feta

Half a Dozen Ways To Photo Booth

Fabric Collage Text

Photo booths are so much fun with all of the great props and hilarious memories captured. You can add them to any event for a little sparkle: A grass skirt background for a pool party, a few classy props for a black & white event, fall colors, and so much more! Here are just a few options for creating a fabulous photo booth of your own!

Craft stores usually have a stock of scrap fabric, have some on sale, or have a coupon! Grab something that goes with your theme and tape it, tack it, or hang it as a fun backdrop!

I tend to get lost in the scrapbook section of my favorite craft store. Am I the only one? I love all of the stickers, stamps, letters, and PAPER! There are so many things you can do with fun paper as a photo booth backdrop: tile squares, hanging rolls, tape some fun wrapping paper on the wall... The list is quite possibly endless.

Collage Ribbon Text

Another personal fave of mine. Ribbon comes in all shapes, sizes, colors, and textures! This is another thing you can find as "scrap" at your local craft store. Depending on the type of booth you're going for, you may want opt for the on-sale ribbon, so you can find long lengths for effect.

Collage Frames Text

Who doesn't love an old, vintage frame? You can find them anywhere (thrift stores, garage sales, wally world) and spray paint them any color you want! Super versatile. You can hang one from a tree, or use some as props. They go really well with mustaches too!

We think these are some fun, "outside the box" type of ideas. We like being creative. You could use a pegboard, or have a super-hero themed booth. If you're in the mood for a project, bust out some power tools and build something sturdy to use over and over again!

Don't forget the props - They can make or break your booth. You could do some DIY, some hilarious, some serious and classy, or whatever you want. The sky is the limit with photo booth props.

However you slice it, these things are cool and just about everyone loves them. Check out our Pinterest board for more ideas and tips for printing your own photo strips!

Happy Booth-ing :)

Event Flyers Galore

Have you checked out the free, editable event flyers on our blog lately?

We've decided to put all the event flyers from each blog post onto a Pinterest  board, Event Flyers Galore, so they can all be viewed in a "list" format. Based on CARES Team feedback, some of our teams wanted a list of event ideas, so our newest Pinterest  board will function as just that. Each flyer will link back to its blog post with more details and the downloadable version.

Cool, huh? We think so, at least.

Here's the link. Check it out, pin, and share!

How to Throw the Perfect Fourth of July Party

P

Remember your first time seeing fireworks? It was kind of scary and loud... but WOW! It's even more exciting watching kids experience it for their first time.

Your Fourth of July party will be here before you know it... time to fire up the grill, break out the poppers, and decorate with red-white-and-blue! Make your Independence Day party one for the books by inviting residents to the pool for patriotic snacks and fun.

Give prizes for the most patriotically dressed and best belly flop (okay, cannonballs are okay too!).

Your party doesn't have to be fancy to make your guests feel spoiled. Remind them of their childhood by serving your guests hot dogs, cotton candy, popcorn, and the works! Check out our Fourth of July Pinterest Board for ideas on how to get creative with your food arrangements and decor.

Flyers: You can choose between two different options for flyers:  (1) a color, full-page flyer, and (2) a color, half-page flyer.

Last-Minute Tips for Super Bowl Parties

Rebecca Padgett With the Super Bowl just days away, our CARES Teams are busy planning their watching parties. Here's a few last-minute ideas to make your party a memorable one. (Click on the photo to be linked to the original source.)

Printables are inexpensive ways to turn your food table into a work of art. There are several FREE options on our Super Bowl Pinterest board - go check them out.

Another party secret - turn something normal (like candy) into something spectacular (like Time Out Treats). Giving something a name and displaying it in a unique way makes a huge difference with your guests.

Remember to have something for your guests who aren't football fans. Some people wouldn't know a Super Bowl from a soup bowl, so find something that those guests can enjoy. Try playing Super Bowl Commercial BINGO, or simply set up a seating area where people can chat without distracting the die-hard fans.

Love Your Neighbor by Doing a Random Act of Kindness

Kindness

Download Flyer

Teach your neighbors how to love one another by promoting a Random Act of Kindness contest. They'll do it because it feels good, because it's fun, and because they just might win a prize. Who knows, you might create a movement.

Encourage your residents to perform a random act of kindness and then come back to a central area in your community to fill out a form stating what they did. You can post those forms on a bulletin board or feature them in another form of communication - from social media to an email newsletter - the sky is the limit.

Be sure to check with your property manager for your prize budget - it doesn't have to be a discount on rent, it could be something as small as a gift basket or a cake. What matters is that you celebrate kindness in your neighborhood. Love your neighbor!

For the urban communities with a high single population, this event works well around Valentine's Day or any time of the year. Help your residents make new friends... and possibly Mr./Mrs. Right... by creating a fun atmosphere for them to meet a lot of new people in a short amount of time.

You may find that people WANT to come, but are a bit weary of what the event will entail. Use your relationships, promote it at other events, and help explain that your speed dating event will be pressure-free and lot's of fun.

For helpful information on how to put on a speed dating event, along with food and decoration ideas, visit our Speed Dating Pinterest board.

Want to take your event up a notch? If you're hosting your event off-site, ask the bartender to offer a signature cocktail that matches your theme. You could try the Kissable, the Besame (Kiss Me), the Margarita de Amore, and even a Sweetie Tea (could be alcoholic or regular sweet tea).

Flyers: You asked, and we listened! You can choose among THREE different options for flyers:  (1) a color, full-page flyer, (2) a color, half-page flyer, or (3) a black and white half-page flyer. We hope that these half-page options will help you save on printing costs.

You can choose to make a few samples to jump start ideas, teach them something new, or  let them go hog wild. Just make it fun.

Provide Valentine's-themed snacks - for ideas, visit our special "Love Your Neighbor" Pinterest board, which also provides ideas for decorations.

This is a quick and easy Valentine's event to host for your community as part of our "Love Your Neighbor" February promotion. You can offer donuts with pink icing and sprinkles, or call your local donut shop ahead of time and ask if they might be willing to make special heart-shaped donuts for you. Hand them out with a pink or red napkin.

To add to the Valentine's theme, feel free to also hand out some sort of Valentine's candy along with breakfast - it could be chocolates or heart-shaped suckers -  it's the little touches that make your event memorable.
