Running Club for Residents
This event is a great tie-in to the New Year – New You event. Give your residents a way to get in better shape and build community at the same time.
Set up an initial meeting to explain the program, and then organize a weekly running group to run near your complex. This program is geared toward new runners and walkers, so be ready to provide plenty of encouragement.
The Couch to 5K program should culminate with having the group run a local 5K together (flyer available through CARES Team).
There are many online tools to create a running schedule, including:
- Set up a water station at the halfway point or at the end of the run. Provide bottled water and sports drinks.
- If you’re running in warm weather, provide an ice chest with frozen rags at the end of the run. You can wash and reuse these rags for every run, and your participants will love the frozen treat.
