Caring for Community Managers

Written by Apartment Life Marketing Team | Jul 1, 2021 6:38:37 PM

Community managers are vital to the apartment industry. Unfortunately, research says that more than ever, managers are at high risk of burnout. Swift Bunny estimated in 2020 that "at least 19 percent of community managers were uncertain they would stick around. In some organizations, that number was as high as 25 percent." Post pandemic, we can only assume that number is even higher.

The alarming trend is also showing up in other positions, such as leasing professionals and maintenance teams. It's not just a matter of resident retention anymore -- the focus has to also include the onsite team. According to Kara Rice, author of the article Community Managers are at a Risk of Burnout. We Can't Afford to Lose Them, "considering our industry already experiences employee turnover at nearly twice the national average, we could be in for a world of hurt."

Clearly, this is a need in the apartment industry. Luckily, we offer a solution: care.

With our Apartment Life program, we've seen tangible increases to not only resident retention, but also staff retention as a result of intentional care and connection. An internal survey conducted by Witten Advisors determined that of the staff surveyed, 100 percent indicated that Apartment Life has increased their job satisfaction, which is in turn expected to reduce staff turnover.

But don't just take our word for it. Listen to a regional manager with Cushman & Wakefield on how her Apartment Life Team truly cared for her.
