Spring is just around the corner, and April is a great month to kick off a new season with a creative, out-of-the-box event that will wow your community. We did some research and came up with a few of our favorite ways to celebrate friendship and fun that are unique and tailor-made for April. Many of these are inspired by or taken straight out of the playbook of our current coordinators. Read on to get your creative wheels turning:
This one's for the kids! Put a twist on the Blind Date with a Book event with a kid's edition full of childhood classics. The young and the young at heart will love discovering and revisiting nostalgic classics. Pro-tip: work with your local used bookstore or check out your closest thrift store to stock up while staying on budget. Make sure to include a note about the intended age range of each book to help your readers find the book that is best suited to their season.
For another approach, consider hosting a book reading in your amenity space. Pick one of your own childhood favorites or poll your neighbors to discover theirs, and then invite families and kids of all ages to attend the reading. Be sure to have a snack bar fully stocked (milk and cookies, anyone?) and some allergy-free options available. Bonus points if you wear a costume or dress in character for the reading!
Everyone loves a plant party! Partner with a local nursery to provide a variety of plants for residents to choose from, along with a few simple directions for how to best care for them. Make things interactive with a potting party (hint: this works great with succulents). Invite residents to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty at a simple potting station that includes small pots, potting mix, and a variety of succulents. Encourage your neighbors to take photos of their new plant babies and post them on social media (tagging your community, of course!).
April is full of opportunities to bring neighbors together, and however you choose to celebrate, we're cheering you on! Do you have a creative spring or April event idea that we missed?
