Summer is prime party season, culminating with Independence Day – the perfect holiday for grilling out, diving in, and making core memories that will last far beyond summertime. If you've got your eye on a July 4th celebration this summer, we're here to help you make it unforgettable! Read on for our tips, tricks, and ideas to party like a patriot on America's birthday.
Go BIG with Red, White, and Blue Decor
Independence Day is a great excuse to make a big statement with your themed decorations. Balloon arches, streamer walls, and festive backdrops are just a few of our favorite eye-catching pieces that will set the tone for the day. We would love to see one of our coordinators recreate this epic balloon wall. Get creative, and don't be afraid to make a dramatic statement with your setup. Invite your neighbors to take photos in front of your display and share the fun on social media (remind them to tag your community and @aptlife!)
Bring on the Fun, Games, and Giveaways
Get creative with your event activities, and give your neighbors plenty of opportunities to connect and extend the fun all afternoon. Fourth of July-themed Bingo or American history trivia with prizes is a great way to build excitement. Set the tone with live music or a DJ, and if you want to make it even more interactive, host a Karaoke contest.
Set out a themed craft table for the kiddos in your community to get in on the fun. And of course, don't forget yard games! Host a yard game tournament featuring corn hole, ladder ball, spike ball, and more.
If you're hosting an event poolside, hand out fun sunglasses and koozies, and make sure to have plenty of sunscreen and extra towels on hand. Come sundown, break out glow accessories and light-up necklaces.
Set Your Table with Nostalgic Summertime Favorites
Some things just go together, like the Fourth of July and the smell of meat cooking on the grill. Host a classic all-American cookout with hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, and veggie skewers, along with all the toppings for every resident to customize their meal. For something sweet, think back to your childhood and offer something nostalgic to delight residents, young and old. Patriotic lollipops, a cupcake tower, or an icy cold popsicle can evoke memories from past summers and remind us of our childhood. After nightfall, pivot to s'mores or a popcorn bar for residents to indulge in before they head out to a nearby fireworks show. One of the best things about Independence Day is that your menu doesn't need to be fancy; it just needs to be full of classic American staples with plenty to go around!
